Dear LPFS Families,
Happy March!
As we step into a new month, we are excited to celebrate literacy, growth, and the joy of learning together. March is a special time for reading across the nation, and we are thrilled to highlight an important literacy celebration with you.
Read Across America Week
Read Across America Week is celebrated each year around March 2nd in honor of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel). This nationwide reading celebration was launched in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA) to encourage children and families to make reading a lifelong habit.
Fun Facts About Read Across America:
It is the largest reading celebration in the United States.
March 2nd was chosen because it is Dr. Seuss’s birthday.
The program promotes diverse books and authors that reflect students from all backgrounds.
Schools, libraries, and community programs nationwide host reading events, themed dress-up days, and literacy activities.
At Learning Partners for Success, we believe that strong readers become confident learners. Reading for just 20 minutes a day can expose children to nearly 1.8 million words per year!
How Families Can Celebrate at Home
Here are a few simple ways to participate:
Create a cozy family reading night.
Dress up as your favorite book character.
Let your child choose a new book that interests them.
Ask open-ended questions about what they’re reading.
Reread favorite stories to build fluency and confidence.
Remember: Reading together strengthens vocabulary, comprehension, and imagination and it builds meaningful family connections.
